Terms of Use

Last updated: January 2025  ·  Mixed Reality Creators

Important — Third-Party API Requirement: Codex Bridge requires a separately installed and authenticated OpenAI Codex CLI. Use of the Codex CLI involves sending your prompts and code context to OpenAI's servers and is subject to OpenAI's own Terms of Service and pricing. Mixed Reality Creators does not control, warranty, or take responsibility for OpenAI's service availability, pricing, or API changes.

1. Agreement

By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using any product published by Mixed Reality Creators ("we", "our", "the studio"), including the Codex Bridge Unity Editor plugin, you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). These Terms are supplementary to and do not replace the Unity Asset Store End User License Agreement (EULA), which governs the core license for any asset purchased through the Unity Asset Store.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use our products.

2. License

Codex Bridge is an Extension Asset sold on the Unity Asset Store. Your use is governed by the Unity Asset Store EULA, including but not limited to:

  • A non-exclusive, non-transferable license for use by a single licensed user on up to two computers
  • Prohibition on resale, redistribution, or sub-licensing of the asset itself
  • Prohibition on reverse engineering or decompilation
  • Use is restricted to the purposes described in the Asset Store EULA

Where any conflict exists between these supplementary Terms and the Unity Asset Store EULA, the EULA shall take precedence.

3. Third-Party API Dependency — OpenAI Codex CLI

Codex Bridge is a Unity Editor integration for the OpenAI Codex CLI. To use this plugin you must independently:

  • Install the Codex CLI: npm install -g @openai/codex
  • Have a valid ChatGPT or OpenAI account and complete the Codex CLI login flow
  • Agree to and comply with OpenAI's Terms of Service and Usage Policies

Use of the Codex CLI may involve costs from OpenAI. You are solely responsible for any API usage fees, subscription costs, or other charges arising from your use of OpenAI's services. Mixed Reality Creators has no visibility into, and receives no portion of, any costs incurred through OpenAI.

Mixed Reality Creators is an independent studio and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent of OpenAI.

4. AI-Generated Output

Codex Bridge facilitates AI-generated code and content via the OpenAI Codex service. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated output may contain errors, bugs, security vulnerabilities, or inaccuracies. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any AI-generated code before incorporating it into your projects.
  • Mixed Reality Creators makes no warranty as to the accuracy, correctness, security, fitness for purpose, or legal compliance of any AI-generated output.
  • Ownership and intellectual property rights in AI-generated content are governed by your agreement with OpenAI. Mixed Reality Creators makes no claims to any AI-generated output.
  • You must not represent AI-generated content as wholly human-created in violation of OpenAI's usage policies.
  • You must not use the plugin to generate content that violates applicable laws or OpenAI's usage policies.

5. What the Plugin Does and Does Not Do

Codex Bridge is an Editor-only Unity plugin. It operates exclusively within the Unity Editor and:

  • Does not include any runtime components that ship with your built application
  • Does not transmit any data to servers owned by Mixed Reality Creators
  • Does not collect analytics or telemetry
  • Stores chat history and preferences locally on your machine only (see Privacy Policy)

The plugin communicates solely with your locally running Codex CLI process. All network communication with OpenAI's API is performed by the Codex CLI, not by the plugin itself.

6. Permitted and Prohibited Uses

Permitted

  • Using the plugin in your own Unity projects, including commercial projects
  • Using AI-generated code in your own projects, subject to OpenAI's terms
  • Modifying the plugin's source code for your own use within the bounds of the Asset Store EULA

Prohibited

  • Redistributing, reselling, or sub-licensing the plugin
  • Using the plugin to circumvent OpenAI's rate limits, terms of service, or usage policies
  • Using AI-generated output to train other AI/ML models without appropriate consent (per OpenAI's policies)
  • Removing or altering copyright notices or license attributions
  • Representing the plugin as being endorsed by or affiliated with Unity Technologies or OpenAI

7. Meta XR Features

Certain features of Codex Bridge are designed to assist with development using the Meta XR SDK. Use of these features requires a separately installed Meta XR SDK and compliance with Meta Platforms' developer terms. Mixed Reality Creators is not affiliated with Meta Platforms, Inc.

8. Refunds

Purchases made through the Unity Asset Store are subject to the Unity Asset Store refund policy. Mixed Reality Creators does not directly process refunds. All refund requests must be submitted through your Unity Asset Store account.

9. Support

Mixed Reality Creators provides best-effort support for the Codex Bridge plugin itself. Support does not extend to:

  • OpenAI API issues, outages, or account-related problems
  • Codex CLI installation or configuration on your operating system
  • Issues caused by third-party Unity packages or conflicting editor scripts
  • AI-generated code output quality or correctness

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE PLUGIN IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Third-Party Service Availability

The functionality of Codex Bridge depends on the continued availability of the OpenAI Codex CLI and OpenAI's API services. Mixed Reality Creators does not control OpenAI's service availability, uptime, pricing changes, or API deprecations. We make no guarantee that the plugin will continue to function if OpenAI changes, deprecates, or discontinues the Codex CLI or relevant API endpoints.

13. Intellectual Property

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect changes. Continued use of our products after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in your jurisdiction, to the extent required by local law.
